Summary

This study explored experiences of implementing the Dying with Dignity model of care for people with intellectual disability who choose to die at home in Supported Independent Living at Minda. It explored stakeholder experiences of the model, identified key facilitators and barriers to its implementation, and generated recommendations to enhance the model and support high-quality end-of-life care in a setting that reflects the person's perferences and needs.

Impact

Findings will inform the development and refinement of an end-of-life model-of-care, and contribute to policy on supporting respectrful choice and person-centered end-of-life practice for people with intellectual disability living in Supported Independent Living.
